I had scheduled this photoshoot in the desert with horses way before I knew there’s going to be a Christmas party on the previous night. So with some degree of sleep-deprivation we went to the stable early in the Friday morning to avoid higher temperatures and harsh sunlight. After the horses were prepared we hopped into a jeep and went ahead of the riders to be ready to shoot as soon as they arrive to the spots deemed as good for taking pictures.
The idea was to take photos as the horses passed or rode towards me. I also wanted to take a silhouette against the rising sun, which to my eye looked phenomenal. I have ridden a horse myself maybe around ten times in my life so I’m by no means an equestrian-expert so choosing my favorites from the set differed radically from those of the horse-owners. For my blog-post I also went towards more dramatic skies and harder contrasts in post-processing but for the advertisement purposes for the stable I also edited another set with minimum tweaks and more down-to-earth tones.
